Dickinson's New Gallery

With the new year now well underway and all of us back at work after the festive break, we are delighted to share photos of our newly refurbished and redecorated West End gallery.

Having celebrated 30 years at 58 Jermyn Street, this felt like the opportune moment to redesign our first-floor premises, to better display the artworks we have on offer, as well as to improve the day-to-day running of the gallery.

We firmly believe our clients want to view artworks in person in a beautiful setting with state-of-the-art lighting.

Working with Simon's daughter, the renowned interior designer Octavia Dickinson, we wanted the gallery to maintain its traditional character but to refresh the rooms with a bold colour scheme, harmonious lighting and a more efficient use of space.

"Our aim was to create rooms that felt clean and crisp, but which upheld the timeless nature of the Dickinson business. The colour palette needed to work with all styles of art and to allow the artworks to take centre stage. We sourced an eclectic range of furniture which follows the Dickinson philosophy of well-designed and beautifully made objects, and which demonstrates how different styles can work together harmoniously."

At the centre of the newly designed galleries is our library, in which Octavia added new bookshelves to house our burgeoning art reference library. For the centre of this research library, Octavia sourced a rare Anglo-Indian octagonal table and she repainted the room in calming Edward Bulmer cream eggshell.

In our viewing galleries we uncovered the original fireplace, which had been blocked up, and reinstated it with a neoclassical marble surround.
With the gallery handling more important works of sculpture than ever before, the new spaces reflect the different needs required for viewing three-dimensional works of art.
For us, the gallery is a place for collectors, curators, and art lovers to come and look, discuss, research and enjoy the art on display. We are thrilled with the transformation and look forward to welcoming you to the gallery.
