The importance of title and provenance research
At Dickinson, we recognise the importance of due diligence, and we are committed to ensuring that every work we handle has a clear title for sale. We work closely alongside organisations such as the Art Loss Register and Artive Inc to research the provenance of each piece, in order to securely account for its whereabouts during the War years, and to ensure that we do not sell spoliated art. Dickinson is also highly experienced in handling restituted works on behalf of the heirs of their rightful owners. We pay close attention to every development in the international laws governing restitution so that we remain consistently well-informed.
